Easter Sunday RefleXions

  • Today was an AMAZING day at Crosspoint Church
  • As far as “programming” goes – we really didn’t do anything over the top or out of the ordinary
  • We just did our thing and our Volunteers ROCKED it.
  • I was sick about half the week and worried that my sermon wasn’t “baked” enough.
  • I normally get to the theater an hour or so early – today I had a completely different routine
  • Got up and showered by 7 and went for breakfast.
  • Hung out at Hardees with a lot of people my age ;-)
  • Drove by our old location and was reminded of Easter’s past.
  • I got to the theater at 8:45 and our volunteers were rocking the parking lot
  • Band rocked an incredible song, there was a funny video, a great worship song, and REM song then some preaching
  • I preached on being a follower of Jesus
  • The cost of being a disciple is higher than most people want to pay.
  • Jesus calls us to follow because he is starting a REVOLUTION not a RELIGION
  • The message was one of the most difficult sermons to hear
  • Jesus calls us to leave EVERYTHING and HATE our lives.  Hard to think about – harder to do!
  • At the end of the message I gave people and opportunity to say “Today I will follow Jesus”
  • Dozens of hands raised.  Amazing and humbling.
  • I cannot believe I get to be part of something like this in Decatur Alabama
  • We had people from California on the internet and a couple dozen in overflow during the 10:15 service
  • the 9:00 service was absolutely slammed with people.
  • Met TONS of guests today.  Wish I could have met them all!
  • We had about 7 minutes between services (if that) and the lobby was PACKED with people.
  • I’m sure our Fusion ministry struggled to keep up with the craziness – but they ROCKED it with nearly 100 kids!
  • I dont have the final numbers yet but rumor is today was our HIGHEST attendance at Crosspoint.
  • Our people invited friends and family.  Keep doing that and we will keep calling people to become passionate followers of Jesus!
  • Got home and hunted eggs with grandkids.  They had a blast!
  • Amazing what a few pieces of plastic and some candy will do for a child!
  • What if we were like children when it came to the wonder of Easter every day!
  • Had mom and dad over for apple pie and ice cream and then took a nap.
  • Woke up and had this thought – next year for Easter we will be in the House of Rock.  What if we had 5 services and over 1200 people for Easter and over 100 decide to follow Jesus!
  • The tomb is empty so its more than possible!
  • Get ready to Rock Decatur!
